Jason B. Peschel is an Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture and Construction Management at Washington State University teaching both estimating classes required for Construction Management majors. He has 3 years of adjunct teaching experience in construction estimating and scheduling at Wayne State College. Professor Peschel also brings more than 15 years of construction experience to the classroom. That experience includes almost 10 years of extensive experience as chief estimator. In addition to estimating experience, he has construction project management experience in the areas of cost control, scheduling and contract administration. Professor Peschel has five years of field experience in the construction industry working as a carpenter, concrete finisher, and laborer in commercial and utility construction.

Professor Peschel received is BS in Construction Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1997. Upon graduating, Professor Peschel went to work for a small Midwestern contractor located in northeast Nebraska . This opportunity enabled him to “wear many different hats” and see the broad scope of how a construction company operates in all aspects ranging from the field to the office. The experience garnered, while filling these many roles within a single company, enabled him to progress through the ranks quickly. Subsequently, Professor Peschel started as an entry level estimator in 1997 and was quickly promoted to Chief Estimator/Project Manager and finally to Vice President, the position he held prior to changing careers and joining the academic team at Washington State University in 2006. Additionally, while moving through the corporate hierarchy, he obtained a Masters in Business Administration from Wayne State College in Wayne , Nebraska .

While working in the industry, Professor Peschel participated in many continuing education events including the Behlen Manufacturing Building System Training (1997), Master Builders of Iowa sponsored Project Manager’s Course (2000), National Associated General Contractors sponsored Construction Project Manager Course in Dallas , Texas (2003), and HUD3R - Lead Safe Work Practices Course (2003).

Professor Peschel has been involved with several community service organizations including Habitat for Humanity via participation in the sponsored community “builds” as well as the Humane Society serving as Secretary for the Northeast Nebraska Humane Society in Wayne , Nebraska . Professor Peschel is also an active Rotary member and has served in the capacities of Vice President, President Elect and President (2005-2006) as well as participating in numerous community service activities.
